Our backcountry ski tours are designed to immerse you in the pristine wilderness and diverse terrain of Japan's renowned Powder Belt. This expansive region stretches beyond the Myoko-Togakushi Renzan National Park and the Five Mountains of Northern Shinshu, extending to the majestic peaks of North Shiga, including Nabekuroyama, Ryuoo, Yakebitaiyama, Uraiwasugeyama, and more.

You can explore a variety of alpine and volcanic landscapes, from deep powder fields and steep chutes to open bowls and tranquil glades, each offering a unique challenge and unparalleled beauty. These diverse terrains provide the perfect playground for backcountry skiing enthusiasts, promising fresh tracks and breathtaking scenery at every turn.

Safety is paramount, and all tours include a comprehensive briefing on avalanche safety and the proper use of necessary equipment such as beacons, shovels, and probes. Our experienced guides are well-versed in the local terrain and weather patterns, ensuring a secure and enjoyable adventure in the backcountry. With their expert guidance, you can confidently navigate the stunning and varied landscapes of the Powder Belt, experiencing the ultimate thrill of backcountry skiing in Japan.

Depending on the area and route, as well as the expected conditions, our guides will confirm the starting time and meeting point the day before your tour. Typically, we meet  for 30 minutes the day before or early morning before departure to check gear and provide a brief on the expected weather forecast and snowpack conditions.

We will tailor the itinerary to match your ability and desired objectives:

  • Beginner: Access to fun skiing and great snow. Average 1000m of elevation gain or less
  • Intermediate: Explore diverse terrain and more challenging descents. Average 1200m of elevation gain.
  • Advanced: For experienced skiers and boarders looking to go further and ski exciting lines. Average of 1500+m elevation gain.

Most of the routes have starting points accessible only by car. Transportation is provided at no additional cost.
