This adventure is suitable for beginners, children, and anyone seeking a unique experience that blends natural beauty, spiritual discovery, and a touch of culinary warmth.
Our guide will adjust the length of the tour based on your fitness level and the weather conditions, and may include a visit to Kagami-ike Pond to enjoy stunning views of the Togakushi mountain range. The tour begins at the foot of Mt. Togakushi, where guests strap on snowshoes and set off toward the sacred Okusha Shrine. Along the way, you’ll pass through a breathtaking avenue of centuries-old cedar trees and learn about Togakushi’s rich history as a center of ascetic training and ninja lore.
The trail winds through peaceful woodlands and snowy paths, offering plenty of opportunities for quiet reflection or photography amid the towering trees.
Morning tours end with a lunch featuring Togakushi’s famously delicious soba noodles, while afternoon tours begin with this meal. For those interested in a deeper culinary experience, the tour can be extended to include a hands-on soba-making lesson. You’ll learn to prepare soba noodles from scratch—mixing buckwheat flour with water, kneading the dough, cutting it into thin strands, and finally enjoying your freshly made noodles cooked on-site.
Whether you're drawn by the solitude of the snowy mountains or the spiritual energy of the shrines, this tour offers a rare opportunity to connect with Togakushi’s wild and sacred landscape in a truly memorable way. The experience is beginner-friendly and includes pick-up and drop-off at your Madarao or Myoko accommodation, or at Kurohime Station for those joining as a day trip from Tokyo.
